Who is responsible

I’m Nicolas Palazzo and I run this site. For any question about your data, write to contact@nicolaspalazzo.com.

What the site counts

To see whether the site is useful, it counts six actions:

  • reaching the “Next steps” section of the Hum(a)in article;
  • downloading the toolkit;
  • opening the contact page from the article;
  • opening another page of the site from the article;
  • tapping my email address;
  • tapping a LinkedIn link.

Each action adds 1 to a total for that day. Nothing else is stored: no identifier, no IP address, no browser details, no list of pages you visited. The same person can be counted more than once, so these are taps, not people.

I use the totals only to improve the site, never for advertising or to follow you across sites. They are designed to fit the CNIL’s rules for audience measurement without consent. Daily totals older than 25 months are deleted, and when I read them I round them to the nearest ten.

Your choice in this browser

The button stops the counters in this browser. Your choice is saved in this browser only (local storage, key “np-optout”) until you change it or clear your browser data. No cookie is set.

The counters also stay off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, when storage is blocked, or when JavaScript is off.

Hosting and Cloudflare Web Analytics

Cloudflare hosts the site and routes every request, so it technically sees your IP address. The counting code never logs requests. That doesn’t rule out technical processing on Cloudflare’s side.

Cloudflare is a US company certified under the Data Privacy Framework, which covers data transfers from the EU to the US. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

The site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies, to measure visits per page and loading speed. Cloudflare adds its script automatically. The “Don’t count me” button does not turn off Cloudflare Web Analytics. The counters are never combined with it.

Office hours

The office hours form is hosted by Tally (opens in a new tab). If you request a session, Tally stores your name, email and what you write. I copy those answers into a Google Sheet so I can read the requests. I use them only to reply about a session.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data you sent me, or object to how it is used. The counters can’t identify you or find “your” taps. Contact: contact@nicolaspalazzo.com.

You can also file a complaint with the CNIL (opens in a new tab).
